Why most businesses need the web

Marketing a business on the web requires a sound business strategy. Many companies have failed because they were unrealistic. They spent too much on advertising and wildly overestimated their potential revenues. In short, they did not have a good business model.

The Small Business Administration, by contrast, estimates a 39% increase in revenues per year for companies that add web sites to existing businesses.   Would you be happy with a 25% increase in sales revenue? What if 50% of those increased sales came from new customers? The SBA analyzed companies that added Internet services to their traditional business operations and found 50% of the Internet customers were new clients.

In addition, if your business spreads by "word of mouth," each new client you gain on the Internet could lead to many more regular customers through "word of mouth" recommendations.
