This issue of O Theophilus touches upon the contemporary concern for moral values now being discussed in American education, politics, and media. For almost forty years America has experimented with self indulgent and amoral "lifestyles" only to witness the rapid disintegration of our society. Educators and politicians are looking for the cohesive fibers of some common value system to patch together the pluralistic, multicultural society they envision. What those values are, and who will determine them, will certainly generate heated debate. Society will be forced to declare in whose authority it places its allegiance, whether in autonomous man, or the God of the Scriptures. The Bible will have to be brought to the forefront as men and women contend over what is right or wrong.
